Berries are considered to be highly nutritious. They are an excellent source for vitamin C and also contain the vitamins A, E and K as well as B complex. They provide several minerals such as manganese, iron, calcium, magnesium and copper. Of special note is the red, blue and purple coloring in berries which are caused by compounds called anthocyanins.
